Again, God has spoken
through prophets. Will
mankind listen this time?

How we should behave
To a group of Pharisees Jesus said: "God has endowed every human being with a completely free will and with an intellect and a conscience which keeps at all times warning and admonishing him. Without these three things man would be no more than an animal.
Jesus said: "God has endowed every human being with a completely free will and with an intellect and a conscience which keeps at all times warning and admonishing him. Without these three things man would be no more than an animal.
However, in order to test man‘s free will also indolence and self-love are inherent in his flesh, wherein he feels most comfortable in this world.
Man shall spontaneously recognize this as an evil for his soul and fight it with the means God has given him, until he has become a perfected master over all his physical passions. But sensuous and indolent man finds this too inconvenient and uncomfortable. He prefers to let his increasing sensuous passions ensnare him as firmly as possible, thereby dragging along thousands because also their flesh enjoys bathing in indolence and sensual pleasure.
And what is the bad consequence of this? Instead of freeing itself from the bonds of matter through the proper activity suggested by God, thereby finally spiritualizing and truly quickening even its material part, the soul sinks ever deeper into the death of its matter.
Once this state begins to become too general with men, God in His mercy sends, always at the right time, awakeners among the indolent people. As these awakeners; begin with their task the many indolent ones fall upon them, maltreat and even slay them in their blind rage, so that they may then continue to sleep in their indolence which is so pleasant to their flesh.
But since God has created men for eternal life and not for eternal death, He continues to send awakeners to the indolent and sensual people to make them raise themselves to true, soul-quickening activity.
If the admonishing prophets are not listened to, but only persecuted, God soon sends other, more rigorous awakeners, like bad harvests, dearth, wars, famine, pestilence and other plagues.
If the people then mend their ways and become once more active according to the will of God, He soon relieves them of the plagues. But if they ignore all this, God has still greater awakeners at His disposal, and these are then like the Deluge at the time of Noah and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
